When a cadet has reached a certain proficiency with the no8 rifle they may get the opportunity to fire the L98 rifle. This rifle is based upon the SA80 weapon used by the armed forces. However it is adapted to be safe and ergonomicaly friendly for cadet use. This differs in several ways from the No8 in that it takes a 5.56 mm round which is much larger than the .22 mm of the No8. Also this rifle has a magazine to load the rounds into the breach rather than them being hand fed as the no8 is. The rifle only has a single shot capability and is still incredibly safe
