Training Officer

Flight Sergeant Wayne McGregor (ATC)

I’m Flight Sergeant McGregor and was a cadet at 70 Sqn in the early 80’s.  I left to join the Royal Engineers where I completed an apprenticeship at Chepstow Army Apprentice College.  Postings and tours included Germany, Northern Ireland, Canada, Hong Kong, UK & Bosnia.

Having left the Army in 1994 after nine years service, I became a Service Manager for Vibroplant and a Transport Manager for Adidas before later joining Greater Manchester Police where I now serve as a Traffic Officer in Salford & Trafford.

I joined 70 Sqn again, this time as a Civilian Instructor in October 1998 and became the Training Officer in 2003.  Recent moves have seen me back in the blue uniform as a Sergeant where I attained ‘Top Student’ on my Initial SNCO Course at RAF Cranwell in January 2008, and where I later attended to become a Drill Instructor. I was promoted to Flight Sergeant in January 2011.

Other qualifications include Basic Expedition Leader Award (BELA), Basic Coaching Course, Weapon Instructor and Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Level II in Powered Craft.
