Mr Darren Walsh
Hi there! My name is Darren Walsh and I’m a Civilian Instructor with 70 Squadron Air Training Corps based in the Croft and Culcheth area. I’ve been an Instructor for about ten years now, prior to that I was a cadet at the same Squadron. One of my main reasons for becoming an Instructor with the cadets is that when I was a cadet, I always respected the instructors due to their commitment to the Squadron and the fact they were ‘unpaid volunteers’. If it wasn’t for these people I wouldn’t have had the opportunities to go flying or to other Squadron activities.
Whilst at 70 Sqn my duties have varied, however my main forte has been Sports and Activities. I have numerous qualifications recognised by the A.T.C. which I achieved at college. I also like to get involved with field-craft exercises, although I have no military experience I have gained my knowledge through the Squadron and personal interest.
When I’m not at Squadron I spend quite a large amount of my time behind bars, don’t worry I get paid for this service. I’m a Prison Officer with Her Majestys Prison Service.
I have worked for the Prison Service for approximately 6 years now and really do enjoy my job.
My other interests include music, outdoor activities, and socialising, however my main interest has to be cars, whether it be driving or modifying them.
